ACTIONS: What activities have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the ten years of the Decade? If you already made a report in 2005, your information from 2005 will be included in the 2010 report.

1. Held two Annual Culture of Peace conferences rotated among colleges and universities mainly in New Hampshire. 2. Collaborated with colleges and universities in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts on peace and justice issues and activities 3. Co-Sponsored speakers and activities among campus organizations 4. Worked with campus ministry to plan a Peace Garden 5. Developed a web page 6. Created a Culture of Peace Alliance among staff, faculty and students within Plymouth State University and across colleges and universities in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts 7. Some faculty have included the 8 action areas in their syllabi

PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade? |
The conversation about peace and justice has expanded and dialogue has increased among colleges and universities across New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts. More faculty have been involved and the administration at PSU has funded our activities.

OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence? If so, what were they?
|
Apathy among many students and faculty continues to be a problem as well as administrator fear of losing funding from state government which tends to be very conservative and nervous about the word, "peace".

PLANS: What new engagements are planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence?
|
We will plan for a Third Annual Conference. We meet once a month to brainstorm new ways of promoting a culture of peace
|
GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??
|
By getting NGOs to include the 8 action areas in their literature and to connect their goals specfically with the 8 action areas. If all colleges and universities could create a Culture of Peace Committee, these committees could hold an annual international conference and the exposure could enhance the effectiveness of the movement by providing common language and goals.
