2007:
United Nations Association Sri Lanka celebrated Peace Day for the 15th consecutive year, hosting a seminar on the United Nations at the Vikramasheela Madya Maha Vidyalaya (National School) in Giriulla
2005:
World Peace Prayer Society (WPPS) Samasevaya organized different activities in the city of Anuradhapura. The popular radio show Subaharathi had International Day of Peace as its theme, and included discussions on the Peace process in Sri Lanka. Later in the day, there was a prayer session in front of Samavihara Buddhist Temple, where Buddhist, Christian, Islamic and Hindu priests participated. The last activity was a rally, where people gathered to light lamps for Peace in the center of the city. Over 800 people participated, representing religious communities, political groups, government and NGOs.

Reported events for the International Day of Peace continue to grow year after year (see the website listed above):
In the 2005 Report, 155 Peace Day events in 47 countries are presented.
The 2007 records show that: * We had 623 commitments across the world * 70 countries * 225 cities (outside of the USA) * 42 US states * An estimate of nearly 500,000 participants * An average of 500 people per event
2009 annual report listed 700+ events
