2009:
Cape Town: Screening of “Soldiers of Peace” at the Labia, organized by the South African Peace Alliance. 140 attended a Reiju (empowerment) and World Peace Grid Meditation session.
Hout Bay: A concert was organized by Kronendal Music Academy (facebook), who strive towards racial and social integration through music and performance.
Johannesburg: 500+ participated in “March for Peace: Peace starts in your Heart”, which included many musical performances, a release of 99 balloons by children, a dance, speeches from Commissioner Reddy, Special Advisor to the Gauteng Premier in North Riding. 2007:
Capetown was one of over 300 international locations for Earthdance. Over the course of the event, which had "The Sacredness of Water" theme for 2007 and raised money for local charities many South African and other musical groups performed. At one o'clock a.m. Earthdance Capetown linked with the other Earthdance events via the "Prayer for Peace" meditation, a song that is played at all events at exactly the same tie, connecting all participants at every Earthdance.
World Peace Prayer Society (WPPS) organized a Peace Day ceremony at a spiritual retreat outside Johannesburg.

On a global level, reported events for the International Day of Peace continue to grow year after year (see the website listed above):
In the 2005 Report, 155 Peace Day events in 47 countries are presented.
The 2007 records show that: * We had 623 commitments across the world * 70 countries * 225 cities (outside of the USA) * 42 US states * An estimate of nearly 500,000 participants * An average of 500 people per event
2009 annual report listed 700+ events
