PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade?

The progress made has been in the area of publicity--more people are becoming aware of the Department of Peace Bill. More people are also becoming politically involved in supporting a Culture of Peace, because of the strong opposition to the Iraq War.

The control that our US governement and private corporations have our media is also now coming to the attendtion of the public.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?

Unfortunately, the three main barriers to PEACE in the US, and in their actions abroad are the US government, the US media, and the US religious right, including the churches.

ACTIONS: What actions have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?

Our organization is fairly new, but we are dedicated to bringing about a Culture of Peace. We have met with our local congressman to request support for the Department of Peace Bill, we are organizing leafletting campaigns at area activites, we have a web presence, and we participate in non violent protests. More is yet to come. Here is our website:
