PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
RISE
has organized a group of Civil Society Organizations in the name of JAC
NWFP (Joint Action Committee) of North West Frontier Province of
Pakistan. We are combating Extremism in Pakistan through promoting
Pluralism and Dialogues on critical political, Social, Cultural,
Religious and Financial issues. Indicators: 1. Participation of people of both the supportive and opposing point of view. 2. Listening the opposition point of view by the participants and leaders 3. Willingness to continue the dialogue

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
1. The Religous Leaders mostly depend on the teachings of Quran and Hadith and do not accept the other point of view. 2. Dialogue a new Experience in the province, therefore so many people hasitate to participate.

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?

Extending the membership of the Joint Action Committee and organizing
dialogues with different sections of the society and Government
agencies for promoting Peace and tolerance. 2. Organizing Youth Groups for prompting culture of peace among young people.
