PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
CYA
has registered quite a remarkable achievement in the implementation of
a culture of peace and Non-violence, more especialy in the war torn
Nothern Uganda. Peace building and conflcit resolution activities were
conduected among the youth at the grass root levels through
participatory methodology .
The following were the indicators of achivements;
1-Reduction in violence incidences at school levels
2-Peace ful co-existance among the young people
3-Amnesty calls for the reblels of the Lord resistance Army
4-Reduced rebels/child abductions.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?

1- Lack of financial resources
2-Insecurity
3-Lack of infrastructures(eg, transport means, equipment etc)

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
1-School-school peace education
2-Community foot ball competition
3-Cultural activities like, dance, music
4-Posters display
5-Medial Talk show
6-Community Peace Education.

ADVICE: What advice would you like to
give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
Actively
involve the youth in the implementation of the programs i.e special
attention should be given to the young people with special programs
designed to suit thier needs.
Ensure peace, democracy and Human Rights observance among members states.
