PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
We have made progress despite the fact that the Commission is only one year old. Such progress can be described as follows:

We have established a wide organizational network to arrange the work
and activities of the different organizations promote political
participation, develop the community’s capabilities and contribute to
sustainable development.
* Empowerment of nongovernmental organizations and dissemination of democracy and freedom
Measures of success: * Wide participation of all organizations. * Organization of several conferences and events. * Great popular and media interest. Assessment, performance evaluation, research and studies

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?

* Lack of adequate financial resources * Lack of expertise and awareness among some participants. * Unstable security conditions in Iraq.

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|

Creating a ratified independent entity representing the civil community
organizations, that has been granted a certificate by UN-supported High
Electoral Commission in Iraqi. * Setting up twelve main offices in
the Iraqi governorates to organize and develop the work and activities
of Iraqi organizations. * Holding more than ten consultative,
general and specialized conferences, some of which have been attended
by more than 500 Iraqi organizations. These conferences were documented
and recorded by videos and photographs. * Political participation
represented in a list of the organizations that took part in the Iraqi
elections, in addition to training and qualifying a number of
organizations on election monitoring. * Participation in social events and strengthening the role of the organizations in civil society. * Monitoring and evaluating government performance, and treat shortcomings. * Social development through workshops and seminars. * Participation in Arab and international conferences and workshops. * Organization of a conference to discuss means of reforming the legislations and laws of civil society institutions * Development of many other programmes and activities all over Iraq.

PARTNERSHIPS: What partnerships and
networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the
global movement for a culture of peace? |
We have developed partnerships with most civil associations in Iraq.
