PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
In
a wide definition of peace - the answer is yes. Our organisation has
experienced an improved integration for those with special needs,
through our work with cultural actitivities and performing arts. In a
large perspective we believe this may lead to more tolerance and better
understanding between people and their differences in general.
|
OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
The
financial situation is always a challenge for taking on new tasks and
initiatives. There is no shortage on tasks and initiatives, when it
comes to sharing the joy of performing arts among all people - also
those with special needs. The obstacle are now to finance the cultural
activities, in a way that also ensures sustainability. A main challenge
is to convince governments of their resposibility for educating
instructors and provide cultural activities for people with special
needs.
|
ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
(Not submitted.)
|
ADVICE: What advice would you like to
give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
We
believe strongly in supporting the work of bringing people of all kinds
together in exchanging cultural activities. We experience how such
meetings and the personal experiences people get, provides better
understanding between people with different cultures and different
needs. In our view a better understanding between people is also a work
for peace.
|
PARTNERSHIPS: What partnerships and
networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the
global movement for a culture of peace? |

support to work in Cuba and in The Dominican Republic. Dissimilis
groups in Norway have applied for financial support through the Youth
of Europe programme - though this has some restrictions when it comes
to the age of the participants.
|
PLANS: What new engagements are
planned by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence in the second half of the Decade (2005-2010)? |
We
are planning international festivals in Europe, wre we especially
invite groups who include people with different needs, most likely in
2007.
