PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
In
the four action areas mentioned below, different projects were
accomplished throughout 14 years (i.e. since the establishment of the
RFM).
Measures of success: * Reaching the expected number of target users * Completion of the project * Positive impact of the project * Project sustainability * Other indicators specific to each project

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
Major obstacles encountered :
* Project finalization sometimes hinged upon the action of certain official and civil bodies * Suggested ideas were not always appealing to the officials concerned.

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
Action areas : *
Agricultural Development: The RMF pursues a detailed action plan to
improve the socio-economic conditions of farmers, and develop the whole
production cycle until the final commercialization of the product. *
Health: The RFM has established a community dispensary and numerous
mobile dispensaries, and launched campaigns to increase public
awareness and education on health related issues * Social Development: *
Children’s Rights: The RFM advocates the necessity of education and has
developed a programme to conduct awareness sessions on children's
rights. It also calls for the protection of children by ensuring free
primary education for children who have prematurely dropped or about to
drop out of school, in accordance with the social conditions of
suburban and poor areas in Lebanon. * Fostering Economic and Social
Empowerment of Women: providing vocational training for women, raising
awareness towards their role in society, and promoting their financial
independence and participation in decision-making. * Democracy and
Human Rights: Setting a platform for discussion and raising public
awareness towards democratic practices and human rights. Social
empowerment of especially youth and women.
Most important activities developed :
Development
of communication channels for the RFM through the news, interviews and
brochures that introduce the Foundation’s different activities.
