PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
Here in my city that is Nagpur we have experienced culture of peace and non violence in different fields.
The
first one is in the economic situation. Here we are working in rural
areas of Nagpur in Maharashtra, where there is very less opportunities
for the youths, the farmer, the women folks and last the children. so
it becomes very important that these communities become independent and
self reliant economical, socially and also politically.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
Lack of education is the most important obstacle. Lack of different opportunities in life.
Media also plays a important role
Then there are myths, superstition in the rural areas which bring lot of obstacles

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
Giving education to these communities so that they understand the importances of life and that to qualitative life.
Bringing awarness programs to the youth, the farmers, the women folks and to children.
Encouraging
youth for self-employment, giving farmers advice for more productive
farming, encouraging women for micro credit and also taking care of
children health wise and also providing education
This organisation conducted many seminars, workshops for bringing peace and nonviolence in this region.
And also joining different organisations for this action

give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
We
would like to share to the Secretary General and the General Assembly
to promote a Culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of
the Decade by networking different organisations and agencies working
for bringing peace through nonviolent movement in the world.
Sharing of informations of different countries as how they where successful in bringing peace in different situations.
Resources and information reaching to grassroot levels.

PARTNERSHIPS: What partnerships and
networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the
global movement for a culture of peace? |
This
organisation participates in networking with the Church of North India,
National Council of Churches in India, Association of Christian
institutes for social concern in Asia and different local social
organisation like Indian Institute of Youth welfare and many others.

PLANS: What new engagements are
planned by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence in the second half of the Decade (2005-2010)? |
Promoting
awarness in more effective way to the rural massess. Bringing education
to the people and informing them about what is happening locally,
nationally and internationally so that they become aware about their
rights and would fight for their equality.
