PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
A
"platform for civil conflict resolution" has been established and
several NGO s and development serivces are participating in the
programm of Civil Peace Service in Germany, now.
|
OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
Much more funds are spent on military and traditional research on dealing with conflict, still.
Many
researchers and students who would prefer to do research in the field
of nonviolent conflict transformation cannot do it because of lack of
funds, of infrastructure and of sufficient adequately trained senior
staff to support them.
|

undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?

|
ADVICE: What advice would you like to
give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
We
would like to draw your attention on the fact that much more funds are
spent on the research of military and armaments then on peaceful change
and nonviolent conflict transformation. The Decade could be a good
opportunity to radically change this, and to provide peace research and
training with more funds and working infrastructure on the
international level in order to gain the perspective of a future in
peace.
