PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
Yes,
our educational programmes have attracted more interest on the local
level. On the internationel level we have promoted non-violent conflict
management through different kind of seminars and meetings with groups
from regions in conflct. We have also seen an increasing interest in
different empowerment projects for marginalised groups of people.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?

Lack of money.

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
Educational programmes in schools and for different groups of both young persons and adults. Research about minorities and human rights. Youth exchanges focusing on conflict management. Seminaris and meetings with groups in conflict and groups from regions in conflict. Empowerment
of young women in the risk of being victims of trafficking or other
forms of crimes and violence (The Girl Group Method). Empowerment of marginalised groups.

give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
Put
greater emphasize on the work of local NGO:s, because it seems like the
grassroots are producing the best and most sustainable results.

networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the
global movement for a culture of peace? |
Network of local organizations Nordic Forum for Mediation and Conflict Management The Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CONGO)

PLANS: What new engagements are
planned by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence in the second half of the Decade (2005-2010)? |
Development of all the above mentioned. Participation in meetings of UN Bodies through our consultative status with ECOSOC.
