| PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade?
 | Our
organization, working in 37 countries, has seen minimal progress in the
first half of the decade.  We have, however, seen remarkable
progress within our own education, and on a grassroots level.  The
growing awareness of a culture of peace and nonviolence within and
without the organization has indeed progressed.  We have seen a
growing awareness at UN meetings, and amongst our membership
especially.
 |
| OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
 | Funding is one obstacle that has prevented us from completing some specific projects on furthering the decade.
 |
| ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
 | We have taken numerous actions to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence, including:
 - holding events around the world on 21 September
 - promoting the culture of peace through publications, web sites, and information sharing.
 - working with other organizations to develop curricula on a culture of peace
 - promoting disarmament education among our national sections
 - promoting democratization of the UN as a way to further the culture of peace
 -
organizing events around the globe on peace issues, on women's rights,
in order to examine the root causes of war and eliminate them.
 |
| ADVICE: What advice would you like to
give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade?
 |
 |
| PARTNERSHIPS: What partnerships and
networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the
global movement for a culture of peace?
 |
 |
| PLANS: What new engagements are
planned by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence in the second half of the Decade (2005-2010)?
