| PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade?

 Development of the EPA's activities took place in three stages:
 *	Development of suburban areas
 *
Contribution to solving some problems, such as drug addiction and
smoking. Solid wastes were recycled, for example rice chaff was used in
the cultivation of mushrooms.
 *	Developing profitable projects.
 
 Measures of success:
 
 *	Official and public participation in the EPA's activities.
 *	Availability of funds.
 *	Managing to execute all activities and projects.

| OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
 | Major obstacles :
 
 *	Governmental routine
 *	Lack of funding,  and insufficient financial resources to guarantee the Association’s sustainability.
 *
Insufficient support for environment protection and community
development societies. Public support is usually dedicated to only
orphans.
 
 
 Measures of failure:
 
 *	Lack of necessary funding for future projects
 *	Unsustainable growth of  the projects

| ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
 | Action areas :
 
 *	Environment protection against pollution
 *	Advocacy for women's rights
 *	Protection of biological diversity
 *	Advocacy of safe food
 
 Most important activities :
 *	Developing environmental projects in Alexandria
 *	Establishing educational gardens in a suburban area
 *	Environmental development of the suburban area of Abou Kharouf
 *
Training 700 youths and school children on using rice chaff in the
cultivation of mushrooms, being a pesticide-free food. The EPA has been
awarded several prizes in different Arab countries.
 *	Forming the "Bon appetit Network” (Bel-Hana wel-Shifa) for safe and healthy food and combating pesticide pollution of food.
 *
Installing and maintaining 24 buoys in the Red Sea for anchoring
tourist boats, as anchor chains damage sea corals (Protection of the
Red Sea Corals)
 *	Responding to people’s complaints for 3 years on the environmental hot line.

give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade?
 | Urging
all companies, factories and the private sector to provide civil
societies with the funding needed to execute their environmental
development projects.
