action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade?

 *	The number of associations rose up to 18,000
 *	Increase in the role of civil associations in the confrontation of major national issues
 *	The State's growing interest in and support of civil associations, being an active partner in sustainable development.
 
 Measures of success:
 
 *	Growth of the active role of social agencies.

Increase in the popular interest in establishing societies, positive
participation and confidence in their developmental role.

 *	Lack of trained personnel to improve the performance
 *	Insufficiency of funding that is needed to overcome the great rise in the costs of projects and services
 *	Inflexibility of administrative bodies
 *	Absence of second-line leaders in civil societies
 *	The need for ongoing development of programmes and services to catch up with successive social and economic changes.
 
 
 Measures of failure:
 
 *	Illegal technical and financial practices and subsequent intervention of the parties concerned.

undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?

 *	Participation in the conferences and seminars organized by the League of Arab States and Arab associations.
 *	Visiting civil societies in Arab countries and identifying models of excellence.
 *	Exchange of technical, legislative or organizational expertise and information.
 *	Establishment of a general federation for Arab social societies (yet to be achieved)
 
 Most important activities :

Identifying national priority projects and concerting efforts to
achieve their goals (environmental projects, socio-economic projects,
youth employment projects, elimination of poverty and illiteracy)

Involving ministries and concerned bodies in the associations'
activities, and making field visits to governorates and associations to
identify the points of strength and weakness in social civil work
