PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
Yes :
*
Development of the Association's organizational capabilities by
conducting a number of training programmes aiming at the organizational
development of non-governmental institutions. * Providing free training in business administration for the Association's members * Increasing the export capabilities of 60 women in the governorates of Alexandria and Matrouh. *
Forging a partnership with a civil society in the city of Marsa Matrouh
(Bedouin community) to promote its natural projects in international
markets, by encouraging graduates to engage in freelance business and
international marketing. * Training of 15 members in Alexandria and
Marsa Matrouh on international trade, in cooperation with the Ministry
of Foreign Trade, so as to guarantee sustainable services that would
enhance the export capabilities of businesswomen in Alexandria, and
support those who run small business.
Measures of success: * Setting indicators for measuring the progress made to achieve the Association's goals. * Becoming a model of success among non-governmental organizations.

Major obstacles encountered :
* The primitive business practices of plant owners hinder their acceptance of international trade techniques. * Conflict between economic and international laws and policies. *
The traditional attitude of depending on the government to get a job
opportunity, which led to low interest in freelance business so as to
avoid risks. * Poor information of graduates in the field of
international trade, which requires more effort on our part to develop
their export capacities.
