PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
Problema: La violencia juvenil relacionada con pandillas.
- Mas divulgacion sobre el problema. Hace dos años apenas se conocia, ahora se encuentra mas y mas
en medios de comunicacion de alcance internacional.
- Mas organizaciones no-gubernamentales intentando dar una respuesta al problema, dialogando sobre
el mismo.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
-La
pobreza y consecuentemente la falta de oportunidades para los jovenes,
y las migraciones del campo a la ciudad, desde todos los paises hacia
Estados Unidos.
-La circulacion de drogas y armas livianas.
-Los Medios de Comunicacion alimentando una cultura de violencia, y entregando informacion
tergiversada sobre la relacion joven-violencia.
-La
respuesta represiva de los gobiernos, intentando suprimir el problema
sin una comprension del mismo, sin crear alternativas para los jovenes
pobres, privatizando la educacion, tomando medidas economicas que no
insentivan la produccion nacional y el empleo.
