| PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade?
 | From 2001 to 2005  definitely there has been a great
progress in bulding a Culture of Peace.  There are important groups
formed to insure liberty of faith and religion in Brasil, the interfaith
dailogue and interfaith encounters have been very effective. We
participate togetherr with the CEERT (www.ceert.org.br) Center of
Studies in Working Relations and Desigualdades in a work to instruct all
religious groups of african matrix to know the Igual Rights Law and how
to act legally when discrimination arises, we participate in the current
movement of Desarmament, and we give lectures, public talks, newspaper
articles, television interviews on  Culture of Peace and Non Violence. We
have a monthly program to Walk for Peace and Non  Violence - Walking Zen
 - in a Public Park, where we walk in a long  straight line for 45
minutes, in silence, becoming the peace and non  violence we want in the
world.  We are members of the ConPaz - Council for a Culture of Peace,
organized by the Sao Paulo Comitte for a Culture of Peace together with
many other groups. We are also members of the Circle of Cooperation of
the United Religions Iniciative - URI, with the purpose to build
Cultures of Peace, Justice and Healing of the Earth.

| OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
 | The main obstacles are still the human beings envolved
in the process of transformation.  For the real changes to occur we have
to change our way of thinking, and of relating.  We need to build
relationships of trust and sharing. We need to have more circular
councils avoind formation of groups that may oppose one another.  The
Dialogue needs to be put in practice in our meetings for Culture and
 Peace and Non Violence.
We also do not have enough financial support and many of the people
involved in the various programs are so busy with other activities that
the time left to worl together is not enough.
 |
| ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?

Peace and Non Violence, Walking monthly in the Public Parks in Zen
Walking for Peace and Non Violence, teach at various seminars the
Manifest for a Culture of Peace and the urgency to put in practice in
ourselves, ourenvironment, everywhere the six basic actions for building
