PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade?

Yes. So far the Bahá'í Community has witnessed in the period the increase in the number of partnerships and people who believe that  “peace” with all its implications, is essential to the progress of our society. The main proof that progress has been made is the fact that many groups that deal with specifc subjects, such as gender, race or Human Rights have been supportive to initiatives aiming at the promotion of peace.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?

Financial and Human resources; difficulty to keep people mobilized around the thematic “Peace”; the association, still quite common, of “peace” as the opposite of “violence” instead of the understanding of PEACE = HUMAN RIGHTS is also one of the major difficulties when one tries to reunite groups to discuss this theme.
